CONTENT DESIGN STUDY GUIDE MODULES 1-6 [ BETA AUG25 ]
Module 6:
Orchestrating the Journey:
The Integrated Content Funnel

The final module brings together all previous skills, and teaches how to map content to the entire customer journey (awareness, consideration, decision), build automated nurture sequences, and create a cohesive, multi-touchpoint content ecosystem that drives business results.
Introduction: The Integrated Content Funnel
You have become a strategist, a creator, a designer, an amplifier, and an analyst. Now, we culminate your journey by teaching you how to be a conductor—orchestrating all your content to work in harmony.
Individual pieces of content can drive traffic or generate a lead, but a connected content ecosystem builds relationships and drives sustainable growth. This module is about moving from standalone assets to a strategic, automated journey that guides a stranger from first awareness to loyal advocacy.
You will learn how to map your content to the classic marketing funnel—Awareness, Consideration, Decision—creating a seamless pathway for your audience. We will build lead nurturing sequences that deliver the right message at the right time, automatically. This is where strategy becomes system, and effort compounds into results.
Module Goal: To synthesize all previous modules by mapping content to the customer journey, building automated nurture sequences, and creating a unified content ecosystem that systematically attracts, engages, and converts your audience.

Detailed Guide for Module 6
This guide is broken down into three parts that build upon each other to create a complete funnel.
Part 1: Mapping the Customer Journey
Concept:
The customer journey is the process someone goes through before they buy. Your content must serve their needs at each stage, not just your sales goals.
- Awareness (Top of Funnel – TOFU): The prospect realizes they have a problem. They are searching for information, education, and answers. Content Goal: Attract and provide value with no strings attached.
- Consideration (Middle of Funnel – MOFU): The prospect has defined their problem and is researching solutions or approaches. They know what kind of solution they need but not which vendor to choose. Content Goal: Build trust and demonstrate expertise; capture leads.
- Decision (Bottom of Funnel – BOFU): The prospect is ready to buy and is deciding between you and your competitors. Content Goal: Overcome final objections and convince them to choose you.
Actionable Steps:
- List Audience Questions: For each stage, brainstorm the questions your buyer persona is asking.
- Audit Existing Content: Triage your content library and tag each piece according to which stage it serves (TOFU, MOFU, BOFU).
- Identify Gaps: Where are you missing content for a particular stage? This is your biggest opportunity.
Deliverable: A Content Funnel Table (see example below).
Content Funnel Table Example
| Funnel Stage | Prospect’s Mindset | Content Format Examples | Example from “Marketing Manager Melissa” Persona | Primary CTA |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Awareness (TOFU) | “I’m noticing problems with my current process.” | Blog posts, infographics, SEO-optimized articles, educational videos, social media posts. | “5 Signs Your Manual Reporting Is Wasting Time” | Subscribe to Newsletter |
| Consideration (MOFU) | “I’m evaluating solutions to my problem.” | Webinars, case studies, whitepapers, email courses, product comparisons, demo videos. | “The Ultimate Guide to Automated Marketing Reporting” | Download the Guide / Sign up for Webinar |
| Decision (BOFU) | “I’m deciding which vendor to purchase from.” | Free trials, demos, consultations, case studies (specific results), testimonials, pricing pages. | “Case Study: How Company X Saved 20 Hours a Month with Our Tool” / “Book a Personalized Demo” | Request a Demo / Start Free Trial |
Part 2: Building Lead Nurture Sequences
Concept: A lead nurture sequence is a series of automated emails or messages designed to build a relationship with a new lead and guide them toward a purchase. It delivers the right content at the right time based on their actions.
Key Topics & Tools:
- The Trigger: The action that starts the sequence (e.g., downloading a lead magnet, signing up for a webinar).
- The Goal: The desired outcome of the sequence (e.g., request a demo, make a purchase).
- The Value Flow: Each email should provide value (often via content you’ve already created) before asking for anything.
- Tool – ConvertKit: Perfect for building email-based nurture sequences (aka automation rules) that trigger based on subscriber actions.
- Tool – ManyChat: Ideal for building messenger-based nurture flows for leads captured on Facebook or Instagram.
Actionable Steps:
- Choose a Lead Magnet: Select a MOFU content offer (e.g., your ebook, guide) as the trigger for your sequence.
- Outline a 3-Email Sequence:
- Email 1 (Immediate): Deliver the content. Reinforce the value.
- Email 2 (Day 2): Share a related piece of content (e.g., a blog post that adds context) or a customer story.
- Email 3 (Day 5): Make a soft offer. “Finding this useful? See how it works in action with a free demo.”
- Build the Automation: Use your chosen tool to build this simple rule.
Deliverable: An Outline for a 3-Email Nurture Sequence triggered by a specific content download.
Part 3: The Integrated Content Ecosystem
Concept: This is the capstone—connecting everything. Your ecosystem is the interconnected web of content, channels, and automation that works together without constant manual effort.
Key Components:
- TOFU Content attracts traffic via SEO and social media.
- MOFU Content captures leads, feeding them into your nurture sequences.
- BOFU Content converts leads into customers, served via nurture emails or sales conversations.
- Nurture Sequences guide leads through the journey.
- Analytics from Module 5 identify what’s working, so you can create more of that content and plug it into the right part of the funnel.
Actionable Steps:
- Draw Your Funnel: Literally draw a funnel on a whiteboard or slide. Place 2-3 examples of your content in each stage.
- Map a Customer Path: Choose one piece of TOFU content. Trace the ideal path you want a user to take from discovering that content to becoming a customer. What MOFU offer do they see? What nurture emails do they get?
- Create a Quarterly Content Plan: Based on your funnel gaps and successes, plan your content for the next quarter, ensuring you are creating assets for each stage of the journey.
Deliverable: A Quarterly Content Plan that includes at least one content piece or campaign for each stage of the funnel.
